It’s Time to Stop Food Waste
This week we celebrated World Food Day and my reflection was, “aren’t we lucky to live in such a great country such as Australia where we have access to such beautiful produce to keep us healthy and well?
But this isn’t the case for all Australians.
I was shocked to discover that four million have “food insecurity” – they don’t know where their next meal is coming from and even worse, on million of those are children.
The loneliness of being lonely and how to overcome it
We know smoking is bad for our health but so is social isolation and loneliness.
It’s not something that just afflicts the elderly, certain cultures or gender.
Of those surveyed, young adults are the loneliest (62%) compared to the over 65’s who are the least lonely (46%).
With more people living and or working alone through choice or circumstance, it’s time to address the issue or loneliness as it’s forecast to become the next major public health issue.
